The April Fool’s Flood on the Delaware
Higher than the floods brought on by Hurricane Ivan, but still not at 1955 levels was the deluge brought on by heavy rains and snowmelt on saturated ground, April 3-4, 2005. The spring floods that came in April, 2005 rose to within 5.48 feet of the levels of Hurricane Diane floods in 1955. Many places that got seriously inundated were still recovering from Hurricane Ivan’s September ’04 destruction when massive rainfall combined with vigorous snowmelt in the Poconos to produce yet another drenching.
